March 11th 2006 will be our next get together for our sporadic game hack-a-thons. We will be focusing on scripting and it’s use in rapid prototyping from a game development perspective.
1. You must use an interpreted language. We recommend you use an established toolkit Perl::SDL Lua Cheia Ruby SDL Your web browser and JavaScript
If you don’t know a scripting language yet I would recommend ruby.. I picked up the basics in a few hours.. Get this book at your local book store: http://www.rubycentral.com/book/
2. We’ll meet early Saturday morning/afternoon and go till Sunday. Feel free to participate anytime during the weekend.
If you can’t attend in person that’s okay I’m going to setup an IRC channel so everyone can communicate if you want to participate remotely
**4. You can of course keep working on your project afterwards but we encourage anyone joining to try to complete it in a day.. this limits the scope and hopefully ensures that people get something done. **
